If this pandemic hasn’t got you thinking about life and just how fragile and fleeting it can be, then I don’t know what will.
God grant us the serenity to accept the things we cannot change, the courage to change the things we can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
The Serenity prayer has so much impact on me. There are a lot of things I cannot change, about my life and about this time. If I knew what would happen to the world right now, I might have done some things differently recently. Some from a personal level like travel and some from a professional level like started my charity sooner (or even this blog for that matter.)
There are some things that are harder to change only if I stand in my own way. I am a Taurus, a bull. Sometimes I can be stubborn ad set in my ways and nothing has helped knock that out of me as quickly as this pandemic. Not eating at places I always eat or going to places I always go to hike, play and live has taught me just what a creature of habit I am. Learning to change what I can, my thoughts as opposed to what I cannot, my environment, is a beautiful lesson of patience for me. I am creating a malleable mind and a heart every day.. because I can. I have given myself the ability to let go of what I know and my comforts in favor of what is best and oftentimes new.
I am wise enough to know which is which.
As I say YES to life, life says YES to me.
It has been sheer enlightenment for me, a struggle to find myself in this new normal and accept the things I cannot change.
Is there a saying or quote that is moving you forward and into this new way of life? What is it? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section.
